  What has the Watchtower reading material done to YOU?

  the reason i ask is because i realise i couldn't go on reading watchtower material.

  i have discovered it did something to my mind no other literature has done to me before.

  it had turned me in to a person without a heart, or soul, and made me in humane and distant from other humans who didn't share the w.t world view.. i now feel ashamed of my childish behaviour, and i have learnt :-.

  Oogie :- " Well right after I woke up from my programming....

  But what about the consequences this literature has caused before we woke up from our programming? For example, how many " family heads" kids never got an education because they woke up to late?

  Personally nowadays each morning I read " Charlie Brown" with my breakfast. Before that I was reading Friedrich Nietzche who was a German philosopher and died in a Swiss lunatic asylum.

  Strangely I have learnt more about the human condition by reading Charles M Schulz " you're The Greatest Charlie Brown" with my cornflakes,than I ever did from reading Nietzche or the Watchtower.

  A Green Handshake

  i just learned that sometimes people give "green handshakes".

  is this the same as bribing your way up?.

  Personally I always thought of the C.O as a distant relative, who makes unwelcome visits but part of the family. He and his wife visited they shared members simple food of potatoes mashed with cabbage, and a bathroom which had a wired sence of cleanliness.

  Ok many " Green Handskakes" may have had questionable motives, but in my dictionary we all like to receive " Green Handshakes" and should he really be expected to question the motive?

  I am afraid my morals are such I would with out hesitation take the " Green Handshake"

  How he acted upon rewarding the " Green Handskakes" is another question?

  I guess for a long time I regarded my indoctrination as something shameful and ridiculous, now I am almost at the stage I can laugh at my stupidity and move on.

  Sabin:- " what a joke, they write the article, they ask the question & they tell you what to answer" That is so triue, what a joke, and deep down I always new I should have known better. It's so funny that as soon as you open your eyes these things become so glaringly obvious.

  ray franz who gave us insight into the gb due to a crisis of conscience was an absolute moron, with absolutely no critical thinking skills whatsoever like all of us have.

  i mean, to have a conscience based on some magic man in the sky.. how stupid can you be?

  So there was method in your madness vinman. I definitely need to learn that what we write may come across dirty, but our thoughts may be clean. I am pleased your thoughts were sarcastic, but even if they hadn't have been it still takes great courage to put an honest viewpoint out on a forum.

  The Rebel :- The only thing we are not Ditto on, I wrote " I now search for material that produces softer feelings and a more positive world view" I say this because of your thread " Ray Franz was an idiot", whilst I believe exposing the cult requires high intelligence.

  However like you I no longer believe in a higher power,

  Anyway everything has a beginning, a middle and an end, and we are all at different stages of our journey. But the advantage of this forum is we can voice our thoughts and gage if our option is valid as we get the viewpoints of others. It often takes great courage to voice those viewpoints.

  I just started a thread on the damage W.T material did to me. From what I understand Ray wrote two books helping me understand this?

  Personally I hadnt heard of these books, but calling someone an idiot, for exposing the truth, and helpng people out of a cult is too stupid to comment on.

  But that is not what you are saying is it vinman?

  What you are saying is this man is an idiot for believing in a higher authority. Well were we idiots when we believed in the higher authority of the Watchtower? Or were we simply not informed?

  A) I must search reading material that produces softer feelings and a more positive world view,

  But perhaps most importantly:-

  B) I have learnt, reading means CRITICAL THINKING, it requires discipline, and feelings and thoughts that are my own and not other people's.

  Anyway I would love to hear your thoughts on;-

  A) What W.T printed material did for you?

  B) If / why you still read it? ( personally I couldn't bring myself to read poster Blondies review on the latest W.T)

  The Kingdom Hall where madness is sanity, and things are not what they are, and neither are they what they are supposed to be. And what is belived is only said for the sake of recognition, and recited from little magazines that contain a useless, nasty and hostile message.

  So I am glad I am out, and that I moved a head with my life. But what really made today special was the the realisation so many here have been through the same as me, and have also found life can be beautiful outside the K.H.

  Largest amount of refugees since WW2 in Europe

  so i had a discussion with my mother about this, and she claims that because of this that: "we are surely living in the last days right now" while i must admit myself that the situation seem chaotic, i don't want to believe that it is the last days.

  so question is, how do i face an opinion like that?

  " Globally one in every 122 humans is either a refugee, internally displaced, or seeking asylum"

  Now I can understand how a person who reads the bible, may believe that the above figures are down to satan and a sign we are in living in the last days.

  Personally I think what is worse is that many of us simply shrug of the figures with:-

  " well it won't reach my street so why should I care"

  So I wouldn't take your mothers thoughts too seriously, as long as she doesn't see you as a black sheep, and you get along, isn't that most important?
